Buckwheat Gratin
A comforting side dish with a nutty flavor and creamy texture. Perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- ●1 1/2 cups buckwheat
- ●1 3/4 cups milk
- ●2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ●4 tablespoons butter
- ●1 cup gruyère cheese
- ●1/2 teaspoon salt
- ●1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- ●2 large eggs

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a medium saucepan, warm the milk over low heat.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and a pinch of salt.

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, arrange half of the buckwheat.

Pour the warm milk over the buckwheat, then sprinkle with half of the grated cheese.

Dot the top with half of the butter.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and a pinch of salt.

Pour the egg mixture over the buckwheat mixture.

Top with the remaining buckwheat, grated cheese and dot with the remaining butter.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
