Moroccan Chicken Tagine
A traditional North African stew made with chicken, smoky spices, and fluffy couscous.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds chicken thighs
- β2 tablespoons smokysmoked paprika
- β1 cup fluffy couscous
- β2 teaspoons moroccanground cumin, ground coriander, ground cinnamon
- β1 tablespoon basilchopped fresh
- β2 tablespoons olive oil
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β2 cloves garlicminced
- β2 cups chicken broth
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper
Instructions

Heat oil in the bottom of a large clay tagine or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until softened, 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add chicken and cook until browned on all sides, 5-7 minutes.

Add moroccan spices, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.

Add chicken broth and bring to a boil.

Cover and transfer to the oven. Braise for 30-40 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

Stir in chopped basil and cook for 1 minute.

Serve over fluffy couscous.

Garnish with additional chopped basil, if desired.
