Smoky Syrian Kebabs
A flavorful and aromatic dish inspired by the Middle East, featuring smoky Syrian kebabs made with smoky, sweet, and syrian spices, served with a sweet beet chutney.
Ingredients
- β2 teaspoons smoky paprika
- β1 teaspoon ground cumin
- β1 teaspoon coriander powder
- β1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- β1/2 teaspoon salt
- β1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- β1 pound kebab meat (lamb or beef)
- β2 medium beets
- β2 tablespoons brown sugar
- β2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- β2 tablespoons olive oil

Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

In a small bowl, mix together smoky paprika, cumin, coriander powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Add the spice mix to the kebab meat and mix well.

Thread the meat onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.

Brush the grill with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Grill the kebabs for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through.

While the kebabs are cooking, roast the beets in the oven at 400Β°F (200Β°C) for 45 minutes, or until tender.

Once the beets are cool enough to handle, peel and chop them into a fine paste.

In a small saucepan, combine the beet paste, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar.

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chutney has thickened.
