Slovakian Chicken Stew
A hearty and flavorful Slovakian stew made with juicy chicken, sour notes, and traditional Slovakian spices. Perfect for a cold evening.

- β1 1/2 pounds chicken breastcut into 1-inch pieces
- β2 tablespoons sour creamfor serving
- β1 pound slovakian sausagesuch as kielbasa
- β1 large onionchopped
- β1 teaspoon caraway seedsoptional
- β1/2 teaspoon allspiceoptional
- β1 teaspoon saltto taste
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepperto taste
- β2 large potatoespeeled and chopped
- β2 medium carrotspeeled and chopped

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add chicken and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Add onion, caraway seeds, and allspice. Cook until onion is softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add sausage and cook, breaking up with a spoon, until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add potatoes, carrots, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, until chicken is cooked through and vegetables are tender, about 30-40 minutes.
