Classic Portuguese Paella
A traditional Portuguese dish made with rice, seafood, and spices. This recipe is a simplified version of the classic Spanish paella.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Portuguese rice
- β2 tablespoons Sour (such as cherry or red wine vinegar)
- β1 pound Shrimppeeled and deveined
- β1 pound Seafood mix (such as mussels, clams, and squid)
- β2 tablespoons Olive oil
- β2 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black pepper

Heat the olive oil in a large paella pan or skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the seafood mix and cook until the seafood is lightly browned.

Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes, until pink.

Add the smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

Add the Portuguese rice and stir to coat with the oil and spice mixture.

Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.

Serve hot, garnished with lemon wedges and chopped fresh herbs if desired.
