Sauerbraten Stir Fry
A delicious German-inspired stir fry dish, marinated in a mixture of vinegar, oil, and spices, served with a side of wheat bulgur.
Ingredients
- β500g beef (sirloin or rump)Slice the beef into thin strips
- β200g bulgur wheatCook according to package instructions
- β200ml spicy stir-fry sauceHomemade or store-bought
- β2 tbsp light oilFor sautΓ©ing the beef
- β1 medium onionThinly sliced
- β2 cloves garlicMinced
- β1 tsp saltTo taste
- β1 tsp black pepperTo taste
- β1/4 cup fresh parsleyChopped, for garnish

1. In a large bowl, whisk together spicy stir-fry sauce, oil, salt, and black pepper.

2. Add the beef strips to the marinade and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.

3. Cook the bulgur wheat according to package instructions.

4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

5. Remove the beef from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off.

6. Add the beef to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.

7. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

8. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil.

9. Add the sliced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until softened.

10. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

11. Add the cooked beef back into the skillet and stir to combine with the onion and garlic.

12. Serve the beef and onion mixture over cooked bulgur wheat, garnished with chopped parsley.
