Jamaican Stir Fry
A spicy and tender Jamaican-inspired tempeh stir fry that's perfect for a quick and comforting dinner.
Ingredients
- β1 block tempeh
- β2 tablespoons vegetable oilfor stir-frying
- β1 medium onionthinly sliced
- β1 medium bell pepperthinly sliced
- β1 teaspoon hot sauceoptional, for extra heat
- β1 tablespoon soy sauceor to taste
- β1 tablespoon honeyor to taste
- β1-2 scotch bonnet pepperoptional, for authentic Jamaican flavor

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Add the sliced onion and bell pepper and stir-fry until they start to soften, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the tempeh and continue to stir-fry until it's golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.

Add the hot sauce, soy sauce, and honey, and stir-fry for another minute.

Add the scotch bonnet pepper (if using) and stir-fry for another minute, until the flavors have melded together.

Serve the stir-fry hot, garnished with chopped fresh cilantro or scallions (if desired).

Note: If using scotch bonnet peppers, be careful when handling them as the oils in the peppers can cause skin irritation.

Cook the stir-fry over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, to prevent the tempeh from burning.
