Pierogi Ruskie with Pan-Seared Steak
A hearty and flavorful dish featuring pan-seared steak served with traditional Russian-style pierogi filled with a tangy and creamy mashed potato and cheese mixture.
Ingredients
- ●1.5 pounds steak1.5 inches thick
- ●12-15 count pierogi ruskiestore-bought or homemade
- ●2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ●2 medium mashed potato
- ●1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
- ●1/2 cup minced onion
- ●1 tablespoon minced fresh dill
- ●to taste salt
- ●to taste pepper
- ●1/4 cup tangy sour cream

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook pierogi according to package instructions.

2. While pierogi cooks, heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

3. Sear steak in skillet for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked to desired level of doneness.

4. Transfer steak to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

5. In a separate pan, sauté minced onion and minced fresh dill until softened.

6. Combine mashed potato, grated cheddar cheese, sautéed onion and dill, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

7. Fill cooked pierogi with mashed potato mixture and top with tangy sour cream.

8. Slice steak against the grain and serve with pierogi.
