Uruguayan Empanadas
A traditional Uruguayan dish of savory meat pies. Flaky pastry and hearty fillings make for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- ●1 1/2 cups Red Bean Filling
- ●2 packages Flaky Pastry Doughhomemade or store-bought
- ●1 pound Tasty Beef Sausages
- ●2 tsp Uruguayan Seasoningpaprika, cumin, and chili powder
- ●to taste Salt and Pepper
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Roll out pastry dough to 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut out circles of dough with a cookie cutter or glass.

Place a tablespoon of Red Bean Filling in the center of each dough circle.

Add a few pieces of tasty beef sausage on top of the filling.

Brush the edges of the dough with water, then fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape.

Press the edges together with a fork to seal the empanada.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with egg wash (beaten egg mixed with a little water).

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
