Pan-Seared British Cassaba Gratin
A flavorful dish that combines the sweetness of cassaba with the richness of a gratin topping. Perfect for a cozy dinner.
Ingredients
- β1 large, peeled and thinly sliced Cassaba
- β2 tablespoons Butter
- β2 cloves, minced Garlic
- β2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
- β1 cup Milk
- β1/2 cup Grated cheddar cheese
- β1/4 cup Chopped fresh parsley
- βto taste Salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large saucepan, cook the sliced cassaba in boiling water until slightly tender, about 5 minutes.

Drain the cassaba and set aside.

In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the grated cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, arrange a layer of cooked cassaba slices.

Pour some of the cheese sauce over the cassaba, then sprinkle with chopped parsley.

Repeat the layers two more times, ending with a layer of the cheese sauce on top.

Dot the top with the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter.
