Hearty Venezuelan Casserole
A warm, comforting Venezuelan-inspired casserole featuring tender beef and sweet muscovado sugar.
Ingredients
- β1 lb Ground beef80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β2 tbsp Muscovado sugarBrown sugar substitute
- β1 cup Tender onionsChopped, caramelized
- β1 (6 oz) package CasseroleVenezuelan-style casserole dish
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black pepper
- β2 tbsp Olive oilFor browning
- β1/4 cup Fresh cilantroChopped, for garnish

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add olive oil, salt, and black pepper to the skillet, and cook until the onions are caramelized.

In a separate bowl, combine muscovado sugar and casserole package contents.

Add the cooked beef mixture to the casserole mixture, and stir until well combined.

Transfer the mixture to the casserole dish, and top with chopped cilantro.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
