Tunisian Lamb Tagine
A hearty and flavorful North African dish made with tender lamb and a blend of aromatic spices. Serve over couscous for a authentic experience.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs lamb shoulder
- β2 tbsp olive oil
- β1 large onion
- β4 cloves garlic
- β1 tsp ginger
- β1 tsp cumin
- β1 tsp coriander
- β2 tsp tunisian spice blend
- β1 tsp salt
- β1 tsp black pepper
- β1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the bottom of a clay or ceramic tagine over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and ginger and cook for an additional minute.

Add the lamb and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the cumin, coriander, tunisian spice blend, salt, and black pepper.

Stir to combine, then add 2 cups of water.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover the tagine and transfer to the oven.

Bake at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 1.5 hours, or until the lamb is tender.

Stir in the chopped parsley and serve over couscous.

Garnish with additional parsley, if desired.
