British Shepherd's Pie
A classic comfort dish from England, made with ground meat, vegetables, and mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- β500g shepherdground lamb
- β250g mushroombutton mushrooms, sliced
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β2 cloves garlicminced
- β150g chestnutall-purpose flour
- β1 tsp pepperyblack pepper
- β1 tsp adventurous Worcestershire sauce
- β1 cup tendermilk
- β britishbeef broth

Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F).

Cook the ground lamb in a large pan over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the sliced mushrooms, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the pan and cook until the vegetables are softened.

Add the flour, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce to the pan and cook for 1 minute.

Stir in the milk and beef broth, and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Transfer the mixture to a 20x20cm baking dish.

Mash the potatoes with butter and milk until smooth, then spread them over the top of the meat mixture.

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown.
