Polish Pork Stew
A hearty and flavorful stew made with tender pork and rich polish sauerkraut.
Ingredients
- β1.5 pounds Pork shouldercut into 1-inch pieces
- β1 cup Polish sauerkrautdrained and rinsed
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon Caraway seedsoptional
- β1 teaspoon Saltto taste
- β1/2 teaspoon Black pepperto taste
- β2 cups Chicken brothlow-sodium
- β1 cup Beeroptional

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the pork on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the caraway seeds, salt, and pepper to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add the sauerkraut, broth, and beer to the pot (if using).

Return the pork to the pot and bring the mixture to a boil.

Cover the pot and transfer it to the oven.

Bake the stew for 2 1/2 hours, or until the pork is tender.

Serve the stew hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
