Greek Gyro
A classic Greek street food featuring tender pork, smoky flavor, and a variety of fresh toppings.
Ingredients
- β1 pound pork shouldersliced into thin strips
- β2 teaspoons gyro seasoningavailable at most Greek markets or online
- β1/2 cup red onionthinly sliced
- β1 cup tomatodiced
- β1/2 cup red bell pepperdiced
- β1/4 cup feta cheesecrumbled (optional)
- β1 cup tzatziki saucestore-bought or homemade
- β4-6 pitas warm pita breadsliced in half
- β1/2 cup Kalamata olivespitted
- β1/4 cup fresh parsleychopped

In a large bowl, whisk together gyro seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Add the sliced pork to the bowl and toss to coat.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the pork to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.

Warm the pita bread by wrapping it in foil and heating it in the oven for a few minutes.

Assemble the gyros by spreading tzatziki sauce on the pita, followed by a few slices of pork, some red onion, tomato, and red bell pepper.

Top with feta cheese, if using, and a sprinkle of parsley.
