Smoky Portuguese Beef Stew
A hearty and flavorful stew made with tender beef, smoky spices, and a hint of Portuguese flair.
Ingredients
- ●1 1/2 pounds Beef stew meatCut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
- ●1 large OnionChopped
- ●3 cloves GarlicMinced
- ●2 teaspoons Smoked paprika
- ●1 teaspoon Dried oregano
- ●1 teaspoon Salt
- ●1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- ●1 cup Red wineOptional
- ●2 cups Beef broth

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Add more oil if necessary, then sauté the onion and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the red wine (if using) and beef broth. Stir to combine.

Return the beef to the pot and bring to a boil.

Cover the pot and transfer to the oven. Braise for 2 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
