Spicy German Beef Stew
A hearty, comforting stew with tender beef, spicy undertones and classic German flavors.
Ingredients
- β1 pound beef stew meat
- β1 medium onion
- β3 cloves garlic
- β1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- β1/2 teaspoon allspice
- β1/2 teaspoon salt
- β1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- β1 cup red wine
- β2 cups beef broth
- β1/2 pound spicy sausage

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high.

Brown beef on all sides, about 5 minutes, then remove from pot.

Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add caraway seeds, allspice, salt, and pepper; cook 1 minute.

Add red wine and bring to a boil, scraping up browned bits.

Return beef to pot and add beef broth; bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 hour or until beef is tender.

Add spicy sausage and cook 15 minutes or until heated through.
