Sauerbraten Sauererlebnis
A classic German pot roast recipe with a twist of unique spices.
Ingredients
- β1.5 kg beef pot roast
- β2 tsp unique
- β2 cups braised
- β1 tsp jamaican
- β2 tbsp sugar
- β1 tsp salt
- β1 tsp black pepper
- β4 bay leaves
- β2 onions
Instructions

Season the beef with salt, black pepper, and sugar.

In a large Dutch oven, heat 2 tbsp of oil over medium-high heat.

Sear the beef until browned on all sides, then remove and set aside.

Add the onions to the pot and cook until caramelized.

Add the braised, unique, jamaican, and bay leaves to the pot.

Return the beef to the pot and add enough liquid to cover.

Bring to a boil, then cover and transfer to the oven.

Braise the beef in a preheated oven at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 2 hours.

Remove the pot from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Slice the beef against the grain and serve with the braising liquid.
