German Braised Swede Casserole
A hearty, comforting German-inspired casserole featuring slow-cooked swede, perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- β1 large, peeled and sliced swede
- β1 medium, chopped onion
- β3 cloves, minced garlic
- β250g, sliced mushrooms
- β1 400g can casserole
- β250ml beef broth
- β2 tbsp mustard
- β2 bay leaves
- βa pinch nutmeg

Preheat oven to 150Β°C (300Β°F).

In a large pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened.

Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Add sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their liquid and start to brown.

Add sliced swede, beef broth, mustard, bay leaves, and a pinch of nutmeg. Stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover with a lid and transfer to the preheated oven.

Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the swede is tender and the liquid has thickened.

Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly.
