Japanese Onigiri with Plum Jam
A simple and delicious Japanese dish featuring triangular onigiri rice balls filled with sweet plum jam.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Japanese short-grain ricepreferably Koshihikari or Akita Komachi
- β1 1/4 cups Waterfor cooking the rice
- β2 tablespoons Plum jamhomemade or store-bought
- β1 pinch Saltfor flavor

Rinse the rice thoroughly and cook according to the package instructions.

Once the rice is cooked, let it cool down to room temperature.

Mix the cooled rice with a pinch of salt and water to achieve the right consistency.

Divide the rice mixture into 3-4 equal parts and shape each part into a triangular onigiri.

Cut a small hole in the center of each onigiri and fill it with 1-2 teaspoons of plum jam.

Gently press the edges of the onigiri to seal the filling and shape the rice into a neat triangle.
