Homemade Turkish-Style Doner Kebab
A traditional Turkish dish made with thinly sliced lamb, served in a crispy pita with fresh vegetables and creamy sauce.
Ingredients
- β500g Lamb shoulderboneless and thinly sliced
- β1 medium Vibrant red onionthinly sliced
- β4 pita breads Turkish breadpreferably homemade
- β2 tbsp Doner kebab spice mixavailable in most Middle Eastern stores
- β1 Lamb's tongueoptional
- β1 bunch Parsleyfresh and chopped
- β4 cloves Garlicminced
- β2 tbsp Lemon juicefreshly squeezed
- β2 tbsp Butterunsalted

1. In a large bowl, combine lamb, doner kebab spice mix, garlic, and lemon juice. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 2 hours.

2. Preheat a vertical spit or a grill to medium-high heat. Skewer the marinated lamb and cook until browned and cooked through.

3. Meanwhile, thinly slice the red onion and parsley. Chop the lamb's tongue into small pieces.

4. Warm the pita breads by wrapping them in foil and heating them in the oven for 5 minutes.

5. Assemble the doner kebab by spreading a layer of butter on each pita, followed by a slice of lamb, a few slices of onion, a sprinkle of parsley, and a few pieces of lamb's tongue.

6. Drizzle the remaining butter over the top and serve immediately.
