Filipino Mac and Cheese Casserole
A warm, cheesy twist on the classic casserole, inspired by Filipino flavors. Perfect for a comforting dinner.
Ingredients
- β8 oz macaroni
- β1 cup, shredded cheddar cheese
- β1/2 cup, shredded mozzarella cheese
- β1/4 cup Filipino-style breading mix
- β1 lb ground beef
- β1 medium onion
- β3 cloves garlic
- β2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- β1 cup milk
- β2 tbsp butter

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a pan, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add onion and garlic to the pan and cook until softened.

Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually add milk, whisking constantly, and bring to a simmer.

Reduce heat to low and let sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, until thickened.

In a large bowl, combine cooked macaroni, cheese sauce, and shredded cheese. Mix well.

Transfer the macaroni mixture to a baking dish and top with additional shredded cheese.

Sprinkle breading mix evenly over the top of the casserole.
