Bacalhau Fritters
A traditional Portuguese dish made with crispy bacalhau fritters served with a side of warm sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound dried cod bacalhau
- β1 cup all-purpose flour flourgluten-free optional
- β2 large eggs eggs
- β1 medium onion onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon salt salt
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepper black pepper
- β1/4 cup olive oil olive oilfor frying

Soak the dried cod in water for 24 hours.

Drain and flake the cod into small pieces.

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, eggs, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.

Add the flaked cod to the bowl and mix well.

Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.

Using a spoon, drop small amounts of the cod mixture into the hot oil.

Fry the fritters until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
