Kenyan-Style Beef Dumplings
A hearty and flavorful take on traditional Kenyan dumplings, filled with tender beef and spices.
Ingredients
- β2 1/4 cups All-purpose flour
- β1/2 cup Warm water
- β1 pound Ground beef
- β1 medium, finely chopped Onion
- β2 cloves, minced Garlic
- β1 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- β1 package (usually 20-24 wrappers) Dumpling wrappers
- β2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1
Combine flour and warm water to form a dough. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- 2
Divide dough into small balls, about the size of a small egg. Roll out each ball into a thin circle.
- 3
Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape, and press edges together to seal.
- 4
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, then add the dumplings, cooked in batches if necessary.
- 5
Cook the dumplings for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Repeat with remaining dumplings.
- 6
Transfer cooked dumplings to a serving plate. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped scallions if desired.
