Beef Tagine with Spices
A flavorful and aromatic beef stew inspired by the warm and exotic flavors of Malaysia, made with tender beef, fragrant spices, and a hint of sweetness.
Ingredients
- β1 lb Beef (1 pound)Cut into bite-sized pieces
- β2 tbsp Coconut oil (2 tablespoons)
- β1 medium Onion (1 medium)Chopped
- β3 cloves Garlic (3 cloves)Minced
- β1 inch Ginger (1-inch piece)Grated
- β1 tsp Cumin (1 teaspoon)
- β1 tsp Coriander (1 teaspoon)
- β1/2 tsp Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
- β1/2 tsp Turmeric (1/2 teaspoon)
- β1/2 tsp Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
- β1/4 tsp Black pepper (1/4 teaspoon)

Heat the coconut oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the cumin, coriander, cinnamon, turmeric, salt, and black pepper to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add the beef back to the pot and stir to coat with the spice mixture.

Add 2 cups of water to the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
