British Lamb Casserole
A hearty, traditional British casserole made with tender lamb and warm, malty flavors. Perfect for a cold evening.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Lamb shouldercut into 1-inch cubes
- β2 tablespoons Olive oil
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
- β1 cup Red wine
- β1 cup Chicken broth
- β8 ounces Mushroomssliced
- β2 tablespoons Tomato paste
- β1 teaspoon Dried thyme

Preheat the oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the lamb and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove the lamb from the pot and set aside.

Reduce the heat to medium and add the onion to the pot. Cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the flour to the pot and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add the red wine, chicken broth, mushrooms, tomato paste, and thyme to the pot. Stir to combine.

Return the lamb to the pot and bring the mixture to a boil.

Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for 2 1/2 hours, or until the lamb is tender.

Remove the pot from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve the casserole hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
