Tunisian Tagine Chicken
A traditional North African dish featuring chicken cooked in a flavorful tagine with tunisian spices. This recipe serves 4 and is perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Chicken thighsBone-in, skin-on
- β2 teaspoons Tunisian spice blendAvailable at most middle eastern markets
- β1/2 teaspoon Warm spicesGround cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cumin
- β1/4 cup, crumbled CheeseFeta or ricotta work well
- β1, preheated TagineA clay or ceramic pot with a conical lid
- β2 tablespoons Olive oilFor cooking

Preheat the tagine to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Heat the olive oil in the tagine over medium heat.

Add the chicken to the tagine and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the tunisian spice blend and warm spices to the tagine and stir to combine.

Add 1 cup of water to the tagine and bring to a simmer.

Cover the tagine with the conical lid and transfer to the preheated oven.
