Japanese Lamb Tagine
A unique fusion of Japanese and Moroccan flavors, featuring tender lamb cooked in a warm spiced tagine.
Ingredients
- β500g lamb shouldercut into 2-inch pieces
- β2 tbsp warm spiced tagine pastestore-bought or homemade
- β2 tbsp soy sauceor tamari for gluten-free
- β1/4 cup sakeor dry white wine
- β2 tbsp honeyor to taste
- β1 bunch green onionschopped
- β2 tsp sesame oilor to taste
- β1 tsp garam masalaor to taste
- β1 tsp sugaror to taste

Heat sesame oil in a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pan over medium-high heat.

Brown lamb pieces until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove lamb from pan and set aside.

Add warm spiced tagine paste to pan and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add soy sauce, sake, honey, green onions, garam masala, and sugar to pan. Stir to combine.

Return lamb to pan and bring to a boil.

Cover pan with a lid and transfer to a preheated oven at 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Braise lamb for 2-1/2 hours, or until tender and falling apart.

Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
