Spicy Ethiopian Lentil Stew

- β3 cloves garlic
- β2 inches fresh ginger
- β2 tablespoons tomato paste
- β2 teaspoons curry powder
- β1 teaspoon ground cumin
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β4 cups water
- β1/4 cup warm beer (optional)

Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent.
