Tunisian Shrimp Tagine
A flavorful and spicy North African-inspired dish made with succulent shrimp, dried fruits, and aromatic spices. Serve over couscous or rice for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Shrimppeeled and deveined
- β1 large Onionschopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1-inch piece Gingergrated
- β1/2 cup Dried apricotschopped
- β1/4 cup Dried pruneschopped
- β2 teaspoons Cuminground
- β1 teaspoon Cinnamonground
- β2 tablespoons Tunisian harissaspicy chili paste
- β2 tablespoons Olive oilfor cooking

Heat oil in a large clay tagine or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute.

Add shrimp and cook until pink, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Add cumin, cinnamon, harissa, apricots, and prunes.

Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Reduce heat to low and cook, covered, for 10-15 minutes or until the flavors have melded together and the shrimp are cooked through.
