Uruguayan Beef Tagine
A classic Uruguayan dish featuring slow-cooked beef in a flavorful tagine. This hearty stew is perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- ●1.5 kg Beef short ribsCut into 2-inch pieces
- ●1 medium OnionChopped
- ●3 cloves GarlicMinced
- ●1/4 cup Chopped fresh cilantro
- ●2 tbsp Uruguayan tagine spice blend
- ●2 cups Beef broth
- ●1 cup Red wine
- ● Salt and black pepper

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the beef in batches until browned on all sides. Remove from pot and set aside.

Add more oil if necessary, then sauté the onion until softened.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the tagine spice blend and cook for 1 minute.

Add the beef broth and red wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.

Return the beef to the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven.

Braise the tagine for 2.5 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
