Warmly Spiced Syrian Roast Lamb
A deliciously flavored roast lamb dish infused with warm spices, perfect for a special occasion. This recipe is a variation of the traditional Syrian roast lamb.
Ingredients
- ●2 lbs Lamb shoulder (2 lbs)
- ●2 tbsp Olive oil
- ●1/4 cup Warmly spiced syrup (see notes)
- ●3 cloves Garlic, minced (3 cloves)
- ●1 medium Onion, chopped (1 medium)
- ●to taste Salt
- ●to taste Black pepper
- ●1/4 cup Fresh parsley, chopped (1/4 cup)

Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).

Rinse the lamb shoulder and pat it dry with paper towels.

In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, warmly spiced syrup, garlic, onion, salt, and black pepper.

Rub the mixture all over the lamb shoulder, making sure to coat it evenly.

Place the lamb shoulder in a roasting pan and put it in the oven.

Roast the lamb for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for medium-rare.

Remove the lamb from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing it thinly.

Serve the lamb with a sprinkle of chopped parsley and a side of your choice.

Note: To make the warmly spiced syrup, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and 1 tsp of ground cinnamon in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Let it cool and store it in an airtight container.
