Filipino-Style Lumpia
Crispy fried spring rolls filled with a savory mixture of vegetables and meat, a classic Filipino street food.

- β1 pound Ground Pork
- β1 medium Onions
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β1 medium Carrots
- β1/2 medium Cabbage
- β1 package Fritters (for wrapping)
- β1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
- β1 Egg
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black Pepper
- βfor serving Filipino-Style Lumpia Sauce (optional)
Instructions

In a large pan, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat.

Add the onions and garlic and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the ground pork and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the carrots and cabbage and cook until they are tender, about 5 minutes.

In a small bowl, beat the egg and mix in 1 tablespoon of water.

Add the egg mixture to the pan and stir to combine.

Season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste.

Prepare the lumpia wrappers according to package instructions.

Place a tablespoon of the filling in the center of a lumpia wrapper.

Brush the edges of the wrapper with water and fold the wrapper into a triangle, pressing the edges together to seal.

Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.

When the oil is hot, add a few of the lumpia to the pan (do not overcrowd).

Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Drain the lumpia on paper towels and serve hot with Filipino-Style Lumpia Sauce, if desired.
