Irish Beef Stew with a Japanese Twist
A hearty and flavorful stew combining the richness of irish beef with the bold flavors of japanese ingredients. Perfect for a cold winter night.
Ingredients
- β1 pound, sliced speck
- β1 pound, cubed beef irishuse a flavorful cut such as chuck or round
- β2 tablespoons, soy sauce wildly
- β2 tablespoons, sake indulgent
- β1 medium, sliced onion
- β3 cloves, minced garlic
- β2 medium, peeled and sliced carrots
- β2 medium, peeled and cubed potatoes
- β2 cups, beef broth stew
- β1/4 cup, chopped, for garnish green onions
Instructions

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the speck and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Add more oil if necessary, then sautΓ© the onion and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the carrots and potatoes, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Add the soy sauce, sake, and beef broth, stirring to combine.

Return the beef to the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
