Venezuelan Plantain Empanadas
A traditional Venezuelan dish, these empanadas are filled with the sweetness of plantains and the crunch of fried pastry. Perfect as a snack or dessert.
Ingredients
- ●2 large plantainsripe
- ●.25 cup xfor brushing
- ●1 package tremely fatty empanada dough
- ●to taste salt
- ●1/4 cup water
Instructions

Preheat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (180°C).

Peel and slice the plantains into 1-inch pieces.

In a bowl, mix together the sliced plantains and a pinch of salt.

Roll out the empanada dough and cut out circles of dough.

Place a spoonful of the plantain mixture onto one half of each dough circle.

Brush the edges of the dough with x.

Fold the dough in half to form a half-moon shape and press the edges together to seal.

Fry the empanadas for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Drain the empanadas on paper towels and serve warm.
