Tunisian Tagine Chicken Stew
A flavorful and aromatic stew inspired by the cuisine of Tunisia, made with chicken, apples, and spices.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds chicken breastcut into 1-inch pieces
- β1 medium applepeeled and chopped
- β2 teaspoons xenial spice blendor substitute with a combination of cinnamon, cumin, and coriander
- β2 tablespoons tunisian olive oilor substitute with regular olive oil
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon tagine spice blendor substitute with a combination of ginger, cumin, and coriander
- β2 cups chicken brothlow sodium
- β1 teaspoon saltto taste
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the chicken and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the apple, xenial spice blend, tunisian spice blend, and chicken broth to the pot.

Return the chicken to the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, until the chicken is cooked through and the apples are tender, about 20-25 minutes.

Season with salt to taste.
