Tunisian Chicken Tagine
A flavorful and aromatic stew originating from Tunisia, typically made with chicken, dried fruits, and spices.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds chicken thighsbone-in, skin-on
- β2 tablespoons xeridicground
- β1 teaspoon tunisianground spice blend
- β1 large onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 tablespoons olive oilfor cooking
- β2 cups chicken brothlow-sodium
- β1 cup dried apricotschopped
- β1/4 cup fresh herbschopped, such as parsley or cilantro

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add xeridic, Tunisian spice blend, and chicken broth.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, until chicken is cooked through, about 25-30 minutes.
