Australian Meat Tacos
A twist on traditional tacos, this recipe combines the flavors of Australia with the comfort of a taco. The xtra juicy beef is marinated in a umami-rich sauce and served in a chewy taco shell.
Ingredients
- β500g ground beef80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β2 tbsp xtra virgin olive oilfor grill
- β1 packet taco seasoningstore-bought or homemade
- β1/4 cup umami saucesuch as soy sauce or fish sauce
- β8-10 chewy taco shellscorn or flour
- β1 cup shredded cheesesuch as cheddar or Monterey Jack
- β2 sliced avocadofor topping
- β1 head sliced lettucefor topping
- β1 pint diced tomatoesfor topping

Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, xtra virgin olive oil, taco seasoning, and umami sauce. Mix well with your hands until just combined.

Form the beef mixture into 8-10 patties.

Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness.

While the beef is cooking, toast the taco shells on the grill or in the oven.

Assemble the tacos by placing a cooked patty onto a toasted shell, followed by shredded cheese, sliced avocado, sliced lettuce, and diced tomatoes.
