Crispy Baozi with Tempeh Filling
A Chinese-inspired vegetarian snack featuring crispy baozi filled with a savory tempeh mixture.
Ingredients
- β1 package Baozi doughAvailable at Asian markets
- β1 package TempehCrumbled into small pieces
- β2 tablespoons Crispy soy sauceAvailable at Asian markets
- β1 teaspoon Xtra hot sauceOptional, adjust to taste
- β1 cup Green onionsChopped for garnish
- β1 tablespoon Sesame oilFor brushing baozi dough

Preheat oil in a deep frying pan to 350Β°F (175Β°C).

Cut baozi dough into small pieces and fry until crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

In a separate pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat.

Add crumbled tempeh and cook, breaking apart with a spatula, until lightly browned.

Add crispy soy sauce and xtra hot sauce (if using) to the tempeh mixture and stir to combine.

To assemble the baozi, place a few pieces of crispy dough on a flat surface.

Spoon the tempeh mixture onto the dough and fold the dough to form a triangle or square.
