Spanish Empanadas Recipe
A classic South American pastry filled with delicious Spanish flavors.
Ingredients
- ●1 package flaky pastry dough
- ●1/4 cup xtra virgin olive oil
- ●1 medium spanish onionchopped
- ●1/2 cup almondsliced
- ●1/4 cup beef or vegetable broth
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the flaky pastry dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.

Add the sliced almonds to the pan and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Place a tablespoon of the onion and almond mixture onto the center of each dough circle.

Brush the edges of the dough with a little water, then fold the dough in half to form a half-circle.

Press the edges together to seal the empanada, using a fork to crimp.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with a little olive oil.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve warm, garnished with a sprinkle of paprika if desired.
