Argentinian Empanadas
A traditional Argentine pastry filled with a mix of cheese and beef. These empanadas are perfect as a snack or light meal.
Ingredients
- β1 cup, shredded Xtra Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- β1/2 pound Ground Beef
- β2 tablespoons Gooey Honey
- β1 teaspoon Argentinian Ground Cumin
- βto taste Salt
- β2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- βhomemade or store-bought Dough
- β1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- β1 Egg, beatenfor egg wash

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the cumin, salt, and honey to the skillet and stir to combine.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.

Gradually add the Xtra Sharp Cheddar Cheese to the dry ingredients and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add the cooked ground beef mixture to the bowl and stir until just combined.

Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out each piece of dough into a thin circle.

Place 1-2 tablespoons of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of each dough circle.

Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-circle and press the edges together to seal.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with the beaten egg for a golden glaze.
