Argentinian Beef Empanadas
A delicious and flaky pastry filled with seasoned beef, perfect for a snack or light meal.
Ingredients
- β500g Beef, ground80% lean
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β1 tsp CuminGround
- β1 tsp PaprikaSmoked
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1 tsp Black pepper
- β1 package (4-6 pieces) Empanada doughStore-bought or homemade
- β1 Egg, beatenFor egg wash

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large skillet, cook the beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add the onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Let the mixture cool slightly.

Roll out the empanada dough and cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

Place a tablespoon or two of the beef mixture in the center of each dough circle.

Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg and fold the dough in half to form a half-circle, pressing the edges together to seal.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with the remaining egg and cut a few slits in the top of each to allow steam to escape.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
