Thai Yeast Buns
Soft, fluffy yeast buns with a hint of Thai spices, perfect for dipping in your favorite curry.
Ingredients
- β1 teaspoon yeast active dry
- β2 cups flour all-purpose
- β1 tablespoon sugar granulated
- β1/4 teaspoon salt
- β1 cup, cubed bread
- β1 clove, minced garlic
Instructions
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until yeast is activated.
- 2
Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar, flour, and salt to the bowl. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- 3
Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- 4
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
- 5
Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 6
Punch down the dough and divide it into 6-8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it slightly into a disk shape.
- 7
Place the buns on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each bun.
- 8
Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown.
- 9
Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes before serving.
- 10
Serve the buns warm, perhaps with a side of your favorite Thai dipping sauce.
