Saudi Arabian Date Tagine
A traditional Saudi Arabian dessert made with dates, nuts, and a hint of spices.
Ingredients

- β2 tablespoons coconut oil
- β1 teaspoon cinnamon
- β1/2 teaspoon cardamom
- β1/4 teaspoon allspice
- β1 teaspoon yeast
- β1 cup flour

In a small bowl, combine yeast and 1 tablespoon of warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, and allspice.

Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Punch down the dough and roll it out into a thick circle.

Place the dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

In a small pan, heat the coconut oil over medium heat.

Add the sliced almonds and cook until they are lightly toasted.

Spread the toasted almonds over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
