Pão de Queijo
A traditional Brazilian cheese bread recipe, flaky on the outside and gooey on the inside. Pão de Queijo is a staple in Brazilian cuisine.
Ingredients
- ●1 cup, shredded Brazilian cheeseMinas or similar type
- ●1/2 cup cornstarchfor coating
- ●1 teaspoon yeastactive dry
- ●1/4 teaspoon salt
- ●1 cup milkwarm, for dough

1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, and 1 cup of the Brazilian cheese. Mix well.

3. Add the yeast mixture to the cheese mixture and mix until a dough forms.

4. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

5. Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces.

6. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it slightly into a disk shape.

7. Coat each disk with cornstarch, shaking off excess.

8. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.

9. Cook the pão de queijo for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
