French Gratin with Feta Yeast Bread
A classic French-inspired gratin dish topped with a crusty yeast bread and crumbled feta cheese. Perfect for a comforting dinner.
Ingredients
- ●1 block (8 oz) feta cheese
- ●1 cup (crust) yeasty bread (gluten-free)Homemade or store-bought
- ●1 cup (shredded) molten cheeseCheddar or Mozzarella work well
- ●1 medium french onion
- ●3 cloves garlic
- ●2 tbsp olive oil
- ●to taste salt
- ●to taste pepper
- ●1 sprig fresh thyme
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Slice the french onion and separate the layers. In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onions until caramelized.

Add the garlic and sauté for 1 minute.

In a separate bowl, mix the molten cheese and a pinch of salt and pepper.

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, create a layer of caramelized onions.

Top with a layer of molten cheese.

Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.

Cut the yeasty bread into 1-inch cubes and place on top of the cheese layer.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with crumbled feta cheese and fresh thyme.
