Portuguese Seitan Burger
A vegetarian take on the classic burger, using seitan and a hint of portuguese flavors.
Ingredients
- β1 package (12 oz) Seitan
- β1 medium Yellow Onion
- β4 Burger Buns
- β1/4 cup Portuguese Bread Crumbs
- β2 tbsp Vegan Mayo
- β2 cups Lettuce
- β2 medium Tomato
- β1 medium Red Bell Pepper
- β2 slices Vegan Cheese

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

Cut the seitan into 4 equal pieces and season with salt and pepper.

Grill the seitan for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

Meanwhile, toast the burger buns on the grill.

Assemble the burgers with the seitan, lettuce, tomato, red bell pepper, and vegan cheese.

Drizzle with vegan mayo and top with portuguese bread crumbs.

Note: You can also bake the seitan in a preheated oven at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

If using a grill pan, make sure to oil it before grilling the seitan to prevent sticking.
