Crispy Indian Pecan Vada
A unique twist on the traditional Indian vada, this recipe adds the crunch of pecans and a hint of sweetness.
Ingredients
- β1 cup yellow split chickpeasmake sure they are dried
- β1/2 cup crunchy pecanschopped
- β1 tsp indian spicesmix of cumin, coriander, and turmeric
- β1 cup vada batterstore-bought or homemade
- βto taste salt
- βas needed water
- βfor frying oil
Instructions

Soak the yellow split chickpeas in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Drain and rinse the chickpeas, then mash them in a bowl using a fork or a potato masher.

Add the crushed pecans, indian spices, and vada batter to the bowl. Mix well.

Add salt to taste and mix again.

Gradually add water to the bowl to achieve the right consistency for forming vadas.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.

Using a spoon, drop small amounts of the vada mixture into the hot oil.

Fry the vadas until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.

Remove the vadas from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
