Bangers and Mash
A classic Irish dish featuring sausages and creamy mashed potatoes. This comforting recipe is perfect for a cozy evening meal.
Ingredients
- β4 Northern Irish sausages (bangers)preferably made with pork and sage
- β2-3 large Mashed potatoeswith butter and milk
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β1 tsp Caraway seedsoptional, for added flavor
- βto taste Salt and black pepper
- β2 tbsp Butterfor browning sausages

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Boil the potatoes until tender, then drain.

Mash the potatoes with butter, milk, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the sausages on all sides.

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sausages are cooked through.

While the sausages are cooking, caramelize the chopped onion in the skillet over low heat.

Once the sausages are done, remove them from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes.

Serve the sausages on top of the mashed potatoes, with a spoonful of caramelized onion and a sprinkle of caraway seeds (if using).
