Japanese Beef Stew
A hearty, charred Japanese-inspired beef stew with rich flavors and tender beef.
Ingredients
- β1 lb Irish Beef Stew Meat
- β2 tbsp Soy Sauce
- β1/4 cup Sake
- β2 tbsp Mirin
- β1-inch piece Zesty Ginger
- β2 medium Charred Onions
- β1/4 cup Green Onions
- β1 tsp Sesame Oil
- β1 tsp Sugar
- β1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes

1. Season beef with sesame oil, sugar, and red pepper flakes.

2. In a large Dutch oven, heat 1 tbsp of sesame oil over medium-high.

3. Sear beef until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

4. Remove beef from pot and set aside.

5. Reduce heat to medium and add 2 tbsp of sesame oil.

6. Add charred onions and cook until caramelized, about 5 minutes.

7. Add ginger and cook for 1 minute.

8. Add soy sauce, sake, and mirin to pot.

9. Return beef to pot and bring to a simmer.

10. Cover pot and transfer to oven.

11. Braise beef in oven at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 2 hours.

12. Remove beef from pot and let rest for 10 minutes.
